University of Rochester students put IBM Watson to work
The University of Rochester announced the winners in the first Watson academic case competition. MBA and master of science students competed in teams to submit proposals on how Watson's technology could be applied to solve complex challenges in the transportation, energy, retail, and public sector industries. IBM supercomputer helping SUNY speed MS research
State University of New York (SUNY) Buffalo is using a new supercomputer from IBM that can help researchers make connections between environmental and hereditary factors to understand how Multiple Sclerosis (MS) affects its victims. The supercomputer uses similar analytic strategies to IBM Watson, the machine that won $1 million on Jeopardy in February 2011.

Join the consortium for building analytics skills and curriculum
Led by Professor Greg Richards from the University of Ottawa Telfer School of Business with support from IBM, the consortium provides a collaborative environment to share curriculum, course modules, lectures, case studies, best practices, and data sets. We encourage faculty around the world to join and participate.
New IBM i certification is now available
Power Systems has just released the Text 000-120: IBM Certified Academic Associate Certification, which focuses on IBM i 6 and IBM 7 System Administration. The exam for this certification derives all its material from the i15 and i16 courses available in the Academic Initiative Courseware Repository. Academic Initiative members can request discount vouchers for their students and themselves.
JazzHub gets an update — check out Beta 2!
IBM will showcase the Beta 2 release of JazzHub at the Innovate 2012 conference in June... but you don't have to wait! The new release of this academic-only, collaborative development environment is available online now. It includes new social features, faster time to productivity, and an improved classroom experience.
