Diagnostics are troubleshooting tools that are widely used in the software industry. They help to find and eliminate problems and also to automate a collection of data. IBM Cognos 8 Content Store Diagnostic retrieves Content Store Database Information. This diagnostic is executed when customer has problems getting tables created in IBM Cognos 8.

A particular challenge when creating prompts on the same page as the report page is that the prompts take up valuable reporting space. Alternatively, placing prompts on a separate prompt page sacrifices the look and feel of the report as users lose view of the report page when looking at the prompt page. The pop-up prompts allow the report user to see, on demand, the user prompts and the report page at the same time. This enables the developer to save space by only displaying the prompts when required.
