When working with IBM Cognos Planning, you use Planning Analyst to build models consisting of multidimensional cubes that hold and calculate data. You can then use Planning Contributor to collect and distribute this plan data over the Web, involving thousands of contributors, by deploying grids for data entry.

Every so often users want to see the report path in breadcrumb format. Displaying this information is helpful when you are doing drill through from source to target. IBM Cognos provides report layout calculation ‘ReportPath()’ that displays the report path in search path syntax. The search path is constructed through parent-child relationships from the root object.

In IBM Cognos BI version 10, users can now save their data source credentials so that they are not prompted for them every time. This benefits IT because it can be unwieldy for data source configurations that require each user to have their own signon, especially if there are many users, because each one must be done individually.
